Guitar Pickups for Funk and Slap

I got a friend who what to change pickups for his Fender Setneck Telecaster, he asked me for some advises but I really really have no idea about funk and slap sound.

Can anybody recommend pickups which good for that sound?

Ho he got on his mine Tom Anderson H2 [modern vintage] pickup, does anyone have experience with that?

I would not opt for set-neck guitar if i'm into funk'n'slap. I think a ash strat with an all maple neck is the guitar!
