i was wondering if ne of you guys had some good sounding Heavy distortion settings for the guitar port. the preset ones are okay and the tweaking is kinda hard to get. thanks

Re: Guitar Port Settings

i got your PM man, but i was busy all weekend with beta testing Guild Wars, so i'm terribly sorry i didnt send you anything yet. do you have MSN? if so, my email is in the profile, i can send you a couple of presets over and give you a pointer or two about tweaking.. but you really should speak to nuni about this as he gets the most awesome sounds out of it...

Re: Guitar Port Settings

sorry, i only have AOL, but when u get ur heavy distortion which amp and cab are you using, right now the best setup i can get is using 1993 Solo head w/ the Brit Celest T75 and a stomp box, but i dont think i should have to use the stomp box to get the distortion i want

umm.. which distortion you mean? LOL
i use all across... from the JCM800, soldano, line6 rectifier (did you upgrade your software to 2.5? if not, do it now, the stuff is improved with it and you get a graphic EQ)

the most recent balls to the wall metal tone i had, was the line 6 rectifier, through a line6 4X12, tube screamer, etc etc etc, i think i threw in everything it has hehe..

the other recent one i got is a little more vintage type in tone, it's a soldane, tube screamer and line6 4x12

i dont like the other stomp boxes but the screamer. it focuses the sound a bit and colors it slightly, so it seems more 'juicy' .. i find the gain of dry amps too loose (yes, even the rectifier) to be usable for me

and if you got a credit card, get to GPOnline, it's free for 30 days, then you must cancel your subscription

right now i am using the 1993 solo head with brit celest T75's and the classic distortion stomp box, basically it's the preset "Lead The Way" without the delay and some EQ changes. it seems to be working well. dont you have to buy version 2.5?

Re: Guitar Port Settings

nope, version 2.51 is totaly free.

i know that preset. it aint bad, but there's more the GP can do ...

mine got fried the other day (i think it's cos of a power discharge and the processor inside got hit.. returning it tomorrow)

Re: Guitar Port Settings

i got the GP online, im gonna try and d/l the new version now, i should have some clips up soon, at least of the old tones i have

Re: Guitar Port Settings

you got ****loads of stuff on the online service.. sadly, i dont have a credit card i could use for it, but you got TONS of lessons (from hendrix, over SRV, slash, to kerry king) you can download backing tracks also, which work similar to the guitar pro files (they show you what to play and which section is coming up)
etc etc etc, you got loads of stuff there

Re: Guitar Port Settings

this is my 1st time w/ an EQ of this sorts...i think i under stand the concept but could someone kind of elaborate on what the 4 knobs do

Re: Guitar Port Settings

How do those things sound? I've messed around with a bunch of Line 6 amps, but was never really impressed. Then I played some Valvetronix, which were a little better, but sorta lame in the high-gain department. Boss always has the tone I need, but now I'm thinkin' maybe I didn't take the time to dial in good tones on the Line 6 stuff?

you select a frequency and then either cut it or amplify it.. simple as that, but hard to tweak it to your liking.. i still didnt figure it all out lol

Re: Guitar Port Settings

Online service sucks. Use the first free month to download all the tones you want. Don't worry. They rarely update that thing. Was almost static while I was a member for a few months.
