Guitar pots?

I know that 250k are generally used for single coils and 500k for humbuckers. I also know that Epiphone uses 300k pots. Are there any other values that can be used for guitar? Have any of you experimented with them?

Well, i have used a 1megaohm pot in all my guitars, but i found out that a much easier solution is just to remove the connection from the 3rd lug on the pot that goes to ground, and voila, you have a "infinite ohm" potmeter .

Are you sure that works? Sounds somehow strange to me...
