Guitarport/rifftracker?

What's the difference between those two? I'm thinking of buying a Guitarport for recording stuff, can I do that with just the guitarport or do I have to get rifftracker add-on too? Their website is confusing... There it seems like you have to get rifftracker to record and guitar port is just to play with different sounds and effects and stuff, but I've heard lots of people here talk about how they record multi-track stuff with their guitarports.

little help here?

Re: Guitarport/rifftracker?

What recording software can I use with GuitarPort?
If you're looking for an easy way to record your musical ideas with GuitarPort, check out GuitarPort Riff Tracker. Its everything you need to record guitar, including the exclusive InstantDrummerTM.

In addition, you can record with GuitarPort directly into any ASIO, Direct Sound / MME compatible recording software. This includes applications from Cakewalk, Emagic, Steinberg, Sonic Foundry, Magix, and Syntrillium, among others.

well that might help a bit but personally i am confused still, i think you can only record with the rifftracker

Re: Guitarport/rifftracker?

Guitarport is an amp modeler that uses your pc hardware to do the work. Guitarport isn't recording software. You can use guitarport with most recording software including line 6's own rifftracker.

I use my guitarport with Cakewalk Sonar.

Re: Guitarport/rifftracker?

I use my guitar port with a free program called Kristal recording, and it does the job, but i think if you get the port you can dld the rifftracker software from the website, but maybe at extra cost.
