Re: Guitars ala Wattage

What a nice collection :) I'm planning to add a couple of LPs to my collection (probably Tokais), thanks in large part to you, Pierre, and Blueman ;)

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

Cool, thanks. I know you like the ESP's, they are great guitars, this one just took a while to find the right pup for it and now it is just deadly. PoorMan aced a hot-rodded '59 vibe that fills out the bottom and gives this guitar the edge it needed.

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

I love all your guitars! Of course I'm digging the ones with Gibby heritage.

Did the hot Rails need any "massaging to get it in?

The Fender with the Moon Equipped sticker is choice! I'm not into stickers much, but Moon Equipped is classic!

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

The Hot Rails did need a little work to fit, I used the Strat version. I took a a Dremel and opened the guard slightly and then I slowly just opened up the rout until the pup dropped in. I had to make a small notch to accomodate the lead wires coming out. It only took a few minutes to do, well worth it IMO.

That Tele needs a new home and I can set it up so that it comes with a MoonEyes guitar amp as well. It's just a little 10w SS practice amp but it is total coolness and actually sounds all right, Lace put them out for a while.

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

Always got to love a Burny

Ive got an early 80's Randy Rhoads LP Custom thats just an amazing guitar for $600. Being cream and a LP Custom its naturally a Steve Jones tribute as well. Still need to switch the speed knobs out though to complete the look on mine.

Why didnt you stick with the stock pups though ? SD59's are fine and good, but those VH-1's old Burny's had really nail the PAF tone as well.

The stock pups weren't around. I have heard real good things about them though.

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

Excellent stuff!! I didnt know you aquired the Poorman Burny! I cant believe he let it go. My Burny is one of the Sweetest Pauls Ive ever played.

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

I'm not into Jones, but I think that ESP is awesome. Just a little different, a little modern - yet clearly a tribute. Very cool!

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

Nice collection! How'd you compare the Pauls to each other?

I too am interested in ESPs in particular as they're pretty common and affordable here. I'm also a wimp and can't take a real LP so I'm thinkin that the Eclipse could be just about what I'm able to handle.

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

I should do a shootout between the 3 of them for comparison.

Got to get focused on work but I'll try and give a brief comparison later on.

Re: Guitars ala Wattage

cool axes, man!

I'm generally not into "fake" gibsons, but the ESP Steve Jones tribute is way cool. Wildwood Guitars here in my town had a couple of the real deals... very cool but very pricey.

It killed me what they were going for. I was going to sell the ESP and buy one but then common sense overwhelmed me. I kind of did it as a goof but I really like it more since I did it up like that, hey it makes playing Silly THing that much more fun.:friday:

Thanks Drew and others. It is a pretty simple collection but I like it, I mean I wish I was Rick Nielsen and could keep every guitar that's been through my hands but it just isn't possible.

Bloodrose that Burny is no lightweight but it isn't an anchor either, clocks in a tad under 10lbs. I think that's pretty good considering it is slightly larger than the real thing.

Also I talked to my buddy Cris about making an alder dinky Tele body so that'll be a cool addition at some point, belly cut, shoulder rest carve. I have a killer Warmoth Strat neck that is on a cool looking, crap sounding body that I am going to use, big, fat neck with massive frets. I am thinking a one P-Rail hot-rod.
