I treat them pretty nice but I toured heavily for several years; both hot and cold temperature. Really it depends on the guitar itself, for example, My tele can take anything i throw at it while the les paul is a little more temperamental. definitely let them acclimate in the case, tune up to pitch and you should be fine.

My guitars lived in a trailer all summer on warped tour for two years and they haven't exploded yet. :dunno:

To be fair, the Tele is the Nokia 3310 of guitars.

This is what Im lookin for. looking to see if guys who
are on an actual tour circuit and trailering thier gear have had much trouble. If I may ask, what band you play in?

The condensation is weird. I've never run into that. Try to make sure that you let your guitar air dry for a bit after playing it, before packing it up. Try a few silica packets too.

P.S. If you have to leave instruments in a hot car, leave them in the trunk. It stays much, much cooler than the cabin (not to mention that this obviously makes your axe less of a thief magnet).

Why would someone leave something like a guitar in their car? You're just asking for something to get stolen (or in this case - damaged by the elements). I wouldn't even leave a $5 CD in my car, let alone a guitar.

I have a big silica packet in the case that came with it. And I always wipe them down(and dry) before I put them away. I was really weirded out by the moisure too. Like it was perspiring. Ive opened cases and had them fog up before, but this one actually had beads of water on the floyd and the body was steamed up.

guess this would be true. ( the second part of course is). I would have thought the trunk would be hotter as of the metal surroundings, but i guess there is no greenhouse effect going on with no windows. I did cover it with a light colored sheet to reflect light and hide it a bit.

Yeah; the trunk actually stays fairly cool, even in pretty hot weather.

Glad to help. I haven't been in a touring band for a couple of years now but at the time I was in a pop-rock band called Shut Up & Deal. The band Became Thrill & Apathy toward the end. The music is available on iTunes if anyone wants to hear it.
