Mike, I'll start having paychecks rolling in soon... and that Schecter is still tempting. I'll check back in a couple of weeks if I can pull it off.

no problem, but i'll be honest, that's the one i keep thinking of keeping of all the guitars i have for sale. i was playing it last night and it just plays so damn well. i'm real torn with that one and it may stay for sale or i may keep it. i'm still tossing and turning over the idea.

That's cool, and totally understandable. As I said it will be a couple of week before I would even have the cash available. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

yeah the emgs do metal real well, that's what i play. also both teles do metal well too along with toehr things.

Hmm, if they're better at metal for the most part I'll probably pass. I'm a mainly a blues/jazz and classic rock type guy.

they are emg 85s, they are VERY vesitile. the 81 is the metal animal. the 85 is much warmer and more refined and i have no doubt it can do more than just high gain. it has a great clean sound also.

I thought these were a different pickup altogether though, not just 8x's in a different housing. I've played the 85 and 81 and wasn't very impressed with either, just not my style really.
