Guitars you aspire to own...

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

Something like this. This one's on eBay right now, but it's $2.9k that I flat-out don't have right now. Besides, I'd rather have a different mix of woods and a tinted or burst top.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

Some many gutiars, so little time... I'll keep it to three.

3.) Black Gibson Les Paul Custom
2.) Black Gibson ES-335
1.) Sapphire Smokeburst Paul Reed Smith Custom 24

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I will probably build an explorer and maybe a seven string this year. I´ve actually seen what appears to be a really nice explorer kit that I´d like to try out for ****s and giggles.

One of these

And one of these

Both are about equally expensive. The Music Man Silhouette is also rare in this colour combo, therefore it would require that I special order it. Sucks because on the used market, Silos go for like $800.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

Right now, any of the following, or maybe two or three, are somewhat within reach if I consolidate:

- Gibson R4 Custom (used)
- Fender '65 reissue dakota red Strat
- Dean ML Lost 100
- Gibson reverse V, black
- Gibson L50
- Guild Starfire II or III
- Gibson ES-125TDC (two-pickup Florentire)
- Gibson ES-135 with P-90's
- Gibson ES-140 3/4
- Gibson Lucille or ES-333. One of the green, purple, or white Gem Series Lucilles would be tits.
- Les Paul Special single cut, sunburst. I'd like an older standard production model. The ones out now are not to my liking, and the Custom Shop ones are way too expensive for what they are.

I'd love an old '60s LP/SG Custom like this...

and an early 70s goldtop LP Deluxe (Norlin!) to replace the one I shouldn't have sold..

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I feel pretty good about my guitar harem as is. There are some guitars I think it would be cool to have, even if they wouldn't be regular players:

  • Some kind of Explorer / Hamer Standard
  • Jackson Rhodes
  • Hamer Scarab

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I'm blessed to own 2 truly amazing electric guitars, but what's really missing is that acoustic that I can't put down; the last big piece of G.A.S. can be attributed to this, a Gibson J45 True Vintage:

I like Martin acoustics, but there's a warmth and a depth to Gibsons that I prefer. A good friend of mine has a vintage Gibson southern jumbo acoustic that just blows me away like nothing else and I'd love a J-45 for that signature sound... it's the best balance of frequencies I've heard from an acoustic IMHO (at least the model with the spruce top and mahogany back and sides).

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

Even with 51 guitars, there's always GAS. But I do have a few I could sell, and these would be the replacements. In no particular order....

'62 Historic Reissue SG VOS hardtail
'60 Historic Flametop Reissue in Gloss HCSB
'54 Jeff Beck Oxblood LP
'56 Historic LP HCSB Quilt top
Joe Bonamassa Sig. ES-335
Korina Explorer Reissue
Firebird V or VII
Martin D-18, like the Vintage, Golden Era or Retro models
Electric 12-string, based on a G&L Comanche
Vintage late '60--early '70s ES-330 longneck
Les Paul Specials w/ P-90s, single and double cuts

If I'm gonna make a wish list, might as well wish for the good stuff!

Add a couple of new Mesas: Mark V, Electro-Dyne, Express 5:25 Plus and a Royal Atlantic, and I'm good to go.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I always have a quick look through the goodies within the Trading Post and there is always something to catch my eye, which got me thinking about guitars I'd really like to own.

For the purpose of this thread I'm going to choose 2, as that's a realistic goal, rather than I'd like a 335, Tele, Strat, LP etc...

Now I'm not necessarily talking about uber-expensive dream machines, or 1 0ff custom shop models (although if that's your dream, then that's cool). Everybody has a limit to what they can afford to spend or what they would be comfortable spending.

As I'm limited fund-wise, there are several instruments that are out of my range but it comes down to this...

I would be a happy man with what I already own, plus a Les Paul Standard and a Clapton Strat...that's it!

So the 2 guitars that I aspire to own are a Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster.

Your turn...

I own 32 guitars now & the search never really stops. I have been playing most of my life & for the longest time I had one electric & one acoustic. My Electric was/is a 1968 SG standard. I absolutely love that guitar but rarely play it anymore. Last year I had her refretted and now she is back in circulation. My acoustic was a Gibson JG0. I think it was a 66 or 67. I broke it and long story short the search was on for a replacement. I would up with a Martin J40 and prior to that I bought a Taylor 615. I never really bonded with the taylor so I sol it and bought a Santa Cruz OM. That IMHO was really all I needed. I guess I got bit by the collecting bug but I really only want to own what I want to play. I have no desire to own a guitar that I won't play. I have Les Pauls, SG, 335, 359, I have Strats & Teles. The one guitar that I have been watching is a Firebird. I am looking for a 1976 Bicentennial in Mahogany but most that I have seen have either been routed for full size buckers or have had a neck repair. I will find one eventually but thats what I would like to have now...
