Guitars you aspire to own...

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I haven't really been looking. I just pick it up when I see it and it screams at me. In about March or April I got a used Hamer hollowbody for like $100 bucks, and it plays just as well as any of my Gibsons. I've got the Les Pauls, I've got the SG's, I've got the Explorers, and the V's, and the 335's. I'm planning on buying a new trombone before I get a new guitar.

Yeah, sure. Thats one of the most ludicrous things Ive heard here.
Sometimes I gotta remind myself that this is the interent, and on the internet, 100 dollar junk guitars can play as good as 3 thousand dollar Gibsons.
Keep on believin' brother, and morover, keep on dreamin'.

3.) Carvin ST300 w/Active HBs and a Floyd in all black (METAL!!!)
2.) a Transluscent blue Gibson Les Paul

Jerry: Read, comprehend, think, comment.

USA Hamers (which CAN be found at yardsales for 100$, surprisingly often I might add) can and will play rings around non-CS Gibsons 6 days out of 7. I love my Gibsons, too, but that doesn´t give me the right to ignore reality and start living under the bridge :D

+1. For whatever reason, USA Hamers are ridiculously cheap on the used market. Probably a big reason why Hamer closed its doors. :(

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I don't need anything at all. I have a couple of nice Strats, a couple of nice Teles, and a great ES-335.

Got a National Tricone, a Taylor 512 and a Taylor 710B.

But I'd still like to have a magical sounding PRS something or other! Maybe a singlecut, maybe a McCarty, maybe a Custom 22.

Cherry sunburst with a nice top. Doesn't have to be an expensive one or super gorgeous one...just a great sounding one.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

A Gibson... LOL

Started playing at the end of 1975. Owned various Fenders, an Aria, a Jackson, a Martin and finally a PRS about 10 days ago. Never a Gibson. I've got a Gibson pickup but that doesn't count.

I'm not even sure it's a USA made Hamer. It's a maple body with Duncan Designed HB-103's, but once I got a new nut and a set of Grover tuners on it, it started to play so amazingly well. I was blown away.
