STHU , you wouldnt know a quality guitar if it jumped up and bit you in your fat beaver face.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I don't aspire to own things I know are out of the question, so I'll just list some that I'll be getting if I don't fall off the fiscal cliff.

Gibson SG in gold - Sam Ash exclusive I think I should put a deposit on before they're gone....and you'll never see another one.

Fender 52 Hot Rod in black, then order a 1 ply gloss black pickguard.

^^ you do know what the fiscal cliff is really a codeword for, right? Blow the San Andreas, grant California independence, and blame it on the Gubernator. :laugh2:

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I will probably build an explorer and maybe a seven string this year. I´ve actually seen what appears to be a really nice explorer kit that I´d like to try out for ****s and giggles.

Wait a second, the guitar you aspire to own is really one you'd have simply for ****s and giggles?

My two would have to be

Gretsch white falcon. I remember seeing one on the second row of guitars on the wall back in L&M in Toronto many years ago. As a youngester I didn't have the guts to ask the salespeople to bring it down. Never played one but for some reason it's like the 'utopia of guitars' for me. Much like Australia...One day...

And the second would have to be a Stratocaster, possibly a Clapton or SRV one/clone.

I don't why though, but the majority of my electric guitar purchases have been in the Les Paul sort of sounding area (Epi Custom LP, Sheraton II, LP Studio). It seems that a part of me wants a 'real' strat but the subconscious goes for the humbuckers.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I've always loved the 6 string Stephen Carpenter signature in the see thru green. The natural finish one is nice looking too(although I think it was only LTD), but I just love that green. And the way the green is slightly lighter on the wings vs the neck. I don't know I just like something about that.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

It's mind-blowing how some forum bros have 30+ or even 50 guitars. I currently have 8, and while I want maybe 3 or 4 more, I only REALLY want 1 1/2. First, I want a decent neck for my Tele and a SM-1 mini-hum for the neck position. Second, I've been planning a Gilmour-inspired partscaster Strat. SSL-2/SSL-2/SSL-6T with a nice, thick soft-v neck painted ocean turquoise with a tortoise guard.

Re: Guitars you aspire to own...

I always have a quick look through the goodies within the Trading Post and there is always something to catch my eye, which got me thinking about guitars I'd really like to own.

For the purpose of this thread I'm going to choose 2, as that's a realistic goal, rather than I'd like a 335, Tele, Strat, LP etc...

Now I'm not necessarily talking about uber-expensive dream machines, or 1 0ff custom shop models (although if that's your dream, then that's cool). Everybody has a limit to what they can afford to spend or what they would be comfortable spending.

As I'm limited fund-wise, there are several instruments that are out of my range but it comes down to this...

I would be a happy man with what I already own, plus a Les Paul Standard and a Clapton Strat...that's it!

So the 2 guitars that I aspire to own are a Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster.

Your turn...

Also I would like to present you with the prestigious "best avatar of the month" award

I'm currently searching for one of these (has to be 7 string and this color):
