Guitars you've owned that are worth more than their price? Less?

Re: Guitars you've owned that are worth more than their price? Less?

I've got a Seymour Duncan Strat that I bought from Scott_F for $700 probably more than 10 years ago now. It's such a great guitar, on par with the Fender Custom Shop guitars that I've played.

I've been meaning to sell it for years now because the vintage strat vibe is not really my thing, but I've been lazy. I'll probably be happy to let it go for around $800 (to account for 10 years of inflation, haha). They're pretty rare these days of course.

Well, I have had a few that I got amazing deals on that blow the price to value out of the water.. But, as far as new guitars and new prices, I think my Michael Kelly Patriot Custom was a tremendous guitar at its price point...

My current one should have cost about 500 dollars less, if you ask me.

My WMD Warbeast (neck-thru) for $549 brand-new after I offered to keep it for a good fair lower-horn dent-discount. ($2 black Sharpie fixed it well enough to not be seen)

Neck is medium-chunky rounded D-ish (or maybe a thick C?) and the fretwork is level and consistent up and down the board.

Mid-quality Rockfield pups were stock of course, but we all know that's just the excuse we look for to "upgrade" lol.

Actually the Rockfield Mafia neck isn't bad at all. It's ceramic and very clear and percusive.
It's better for molten leads IMO than the d'a-X-neck I have in it now. The d'a-X-neck is better for cleans though.

The stock Rockfield Phatass bridge-pup sucked though, for my needs anyways. Settled with x2n after trying a few others first.

I have a Made in Mexico Squier Telecaster that I bought new for $149 (regular price) in 1999 that absolutely slays!! I bought it at Mars Music. I played every single Fender in there that day, and I kept going back to it. It played and sounded better than all of them. I wouldn't take $500 for it somebody offered it to me.

Mine is a Fender-branded "Squier Series." I can't make myself hate the stock pickups, despite the plastic bobbins they're alnico and there's a metal (copper?) baseplate. It's a great sounding guitar with an awesome neck; chunky, well shaped. Wish it was string through, but also don't feel the overall tone needs a change anyway. Even with the stock six-saddle, it's a favorite.
