Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

Re: Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

Geesh that's a tough amp, I couldn't even see any flaws in the tolex afterwards.

I'm sure it still works fine.

Re: Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

I figure that;

1) it's an empty shell, or

2) the band broke up and that's the lead singers house.

Re: Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

That didn't feel good to watch! Empty shell or not! I would cry if i dropped my Laney like that and its only a fraction of the price!

I have 2 guesses. These are roadies for a band that wants their dummy heads to look like they've been on tour already. Or, they're the shipping guys at Bogner, playing around with a cracked headshell they're planning on throwing away.

You can tell there's no guts in it by the sound it makes, and and by looking at the back at .24.....no tubes or transformer. It's still funny though. What's most funny is they could sell that on Ebay for $300.

It's too bad they didn't drop it on their foot...now that would have been funny!

Three hits like that off the ground and any amp, no matter what, will have a tube dislodged or broken from the shock. They tipped it around enough so that it would of been easy to hear the chunks.

Knobs very likely would have been dislodged, broken or sheared off.

The tolex very likely would have been marred and broken as well.

I think it's probably roadies for a band that built recreations. I'm willing to bet the cover material isn't tolex and is probably some material that's the consistency they use to line truck beds with.

Re: Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

If you read the comments it tells the story. Amp arrived broken; the man filed a claim, got his insurance money on it and got to keep the broken amp so hence the Uberschall party.

Re: Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

The Canadian owned Traynor company used to do ads in the 70's by trying to destroy a head.... being able to throw a head off a 1 story roof and still be working... Back in those days they said many musicians used to stack their amps at the front of stages and the head would be 12 feet in the air sometimes from the audience level... If a guitarist knocked his stack over by accident it had a long way to go to the floor! So they built them tough...

for Traynor's anivserary a few years back they took a 30 year old head and threw it off a music store roof onto the sidewalk in Toronto... Plugged some new Tubes in and it worked.. It was broadcasted on TV...

I would hope any pro built head meant for touring could take more then a few drops like this guy did in the Youtube video.. I would not say it is a smart thing... But it is expected to take some hits and live...

Yup, this is a very known fact about Traynor...Tough as nails and built to last..Canada's pride and joy! (i've owned at least five of them in the past 20 years, and they all worked perfectly, even the ones that were banged up)

I saw that on harmony central quite a while ago. I believe the amp belonged to someone on that board. The amp arrived broken etc... I thought the video was a fake when the guy dropped it the second time. I was expecting a horrible crash, but it hit with a thud :wrf:

Re: Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

I can tell that it's a dummy head for two reasons. One is the sound it made when it hit the ground....there's no weight behind it. Secondly, he's lifting it like it's not heavy. When I lift my Bogner head, it looks like I'm straining to lift it. He's lifting it like it's 15 pounds.

My guess is that it's a dummy head being battered a little for looks.

Re: Guy throws Bogner to the ground on youtube!

We were talking about this a while ago on another forum...

"I believe that's the infamous "irreparable" early Uberschall, that Bogner won't fix because the design is inferior and the warranty was voided. UPS damaged it, someone replaced the case and sold it, and it doesn't work now. It's a $3000 paperweight."

"I remember when Todd got this amp on E-bay. He plugged it in, turned it on, and it did nothing. He opened it up and took a bunch of pictures, and posted them online. Several guys with Ubers said it looked nothing like theirs. The seller filed the claim, UPS picked up the amp, Todd gut his money, and bought another one on E-bay."

so ... yeah

Yeah, it was the bad acting that tipped me off.
