anyone try these out? a local shop has a (discontinued?) pedal of theirs named the Harmonic Distortion. I think they wanted like $50 bucks for it. it's the HD2. i saw the HD3 on youtube, if its any similar, it should kick ass.

Re: Guyatone

Hahahahah, dammit astrozombie, you seem to have some serious GAS lately mate ;)

My guess is that you are fully ready to start building your own DIY-pedals (don't know if you are open to that though), but it's a neat hobby if you ask me, and will create you some great sounding pedals while only spending little money! ;)

Don't have experience with that particular Guyatone, as you stated it is out of production and has been replaced by the HD3, no clue how the HD2 compares to it.
What kind of OD are you after if I may ask?

Re: Guyatone

Astrozombie, if you want to kick your HotRod in the ****, HARD, see if you can find an Eagletone Hell Dude (it is a relabeled Biyang Metal End, maybe you can find those easier around your parts) to lay your hands on, that pedal just amazed me!!

Seriously, when looking for a harder type of distortion, this thing really is HUGE bang for the money!!
Superb pedal when you need kick *** gain, lots of tweaking options (boutique style mods), true bypass, decently build with high quality components and can be bought for cheap when you look around!!
The thing seriously rumbles!!!

Re: Guyatone

i have the guyatone tz2. it's a fuzz pedal supposedly based on the univox superfuzz. not sure if it sounds anything like it but i LOVE the pedal. it's a filthy, filthy, fuzz beast. it got good reviews on HC overall. got mine for $50 last summer. the negative about it, and those micro pedals from guyatone in general, seems to be a less than tough construction. mine can be testy, and i'm just a bedroom musician. i'd look up some reviews if you plan on gigging with yours.

Re: Guyatone

Oh...snobbing at the Boss, now you are slumming with Guyatone?

I currently own a VT-3. I've played an assortment. They are pretty cool overall as a line. I dig'em. For 50 bones, I say give it a whirl.
