Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
I was thinking if there were a few CLASSIC stomps to have, wouldn't be nice to have a board of those boxes? SO how about a really basic modeled set of boxes:

That way you just "buy one" and get them all. Obviously sharp modelling would be key. But this must be doable.

MXR Dyna Comp
MXR Micro Amp
TS-9 screamer - with mid cut and gain boost
???? Not sure what Distortion is "The" classic. Maybe a DS-1 with Keeley mod
button???
????? Metal Distortion - again, not sure here
Boss CH-1 Chorus
ADA Flanger
MXR Phase 90
???? Not sure what Tremolo.
Switch for either a Boss DD-3 or an Ibanez AD-9
A reverb with spring/room/hall - again, Fender would seem to be the thing to mod, with maybe a Lexicon hall and ????
And a wah vol pedal - based on 535Q

Then arrange the whole thing:

Comp
Gain option 1 - select any from all the gains! Micro-TS9, Metal-Metal, whatever, TS9-distortion....
Gain option 2
Wah
Mod pedal
Delay pedal
Verb Pedal

Set the whole thing for banks with selected pedals.

Have an option to place external pedals in at whatever point, a pre-post gain for way, and a solo boost switch!

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

I can't wrap my head around the idea of modeling a tubescreamer, when you can build a real one for cheap.

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

I think the Axe-FX Ultra/II does all that and more. But then again I'm making the assumption that you don't want a 2K+ box (1300ish for the Ultra), The old standard probably does all those effects too.

Not sure about the Kemper or the other one (name escapes me at the moment).

Its all about convenience. I just don't think MIDI is all that convenient, just get the boxes.

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

You can have what you describe with the Digitech RP355. The only thing missing would be the second gain. The new Digitech RP360 should be coming out in January which might have the second gain option.

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

If you are looking for all modeled, I believe the Line 6 M9/M13 pedals are something along those lines, but a max of 3 or 4 effects at once. Also the TC Electronics G-System also looks really cool, but pricey!

Doing a modeled effect requires processing power, and the ability to do many at once either drives a higher price due to more processing power hardware or reduced fidelity. This is an exciting time, the modeling we have access to now is worlds better than the original generation (look at Strymon) and with more and more DSP software engineers developing in the industry you know the quality is on a sharp ramp upward. Combined with the lowering price of hardware we should be seeing some exciting products over the next few years!

I hate to have to keep doing this, but...

:gurmpy:

OP, any of the newest line of modelers should do that. The POD300+, the Mustang 5 and Mustang Floor could probably do it in the Fuse software, and the Peavey Vypyrs can also do the software route. I know Revalver can, and Peavey uses that.

If you need that second gain, just buy the first pedal in line and run it into the machine into the cascade effect.

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

Yeah, I know.

But I was thinking of that "Hey - I'd like a board of all the classics, at a less than classic price. With programmability.

I don't want ALL the fx in the world. Just the 12 or so best done to perfection. For two-fiddy.

Sounds like you have a trip to Ebay for some Behringer, Joyo, Nux and whatever other knockoffs you can find along with a looper, then rehouse everything in a junction box. :D

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

your not gonna be happy with a modeler of a pedal in multifx!

there are some analog multifx that are pretty cool though, but I rather just have a collection of robots of my choosing!

:lmao:

Joyo Vintage Phase
Ibanez Tonelok TS 7
Mooer Echolizer
etc...

Best. Thread. Response. Period!

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

I had collected pedals for a long time. I am happy with an M9 now.

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

So ... you want a multi-fx with less models? There are good reasons why that doesn't exist:

- most people like having lots of choices

- even the people who don't like having lots of choices like to be able to use specific things they want, not whatever someone else chose for them

- making 100 models doesn't cost much more than making one model (developing the modelling/profiling software is where all your R&D cost goes; once that's done, making the models is easy)

- the hardware costs the same whether it holds one model or a thousand

- a good multi-fx doesn't cost that much to begin with (especially used)

- if you spend a wee bit of time setting up a multi, it will be, functionally speaking, exactly what you've described

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

I had collected pedals for a long time. I am happy with an M9 now.

I use modelers a ton, but I do dig analog and tube best no comparison in that realm really to me

that pedal is only $300 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifiers-effects/line-6-m9-stompbox-modeler-guitar-multi-effects-pedal?source=3WWRWXGP&gclid=CNqxm5bKrrsCFWUV7AodxmsA3Q&kwid=productads-plaid^57306394987-sku^620729000000000@ADL4MF-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^30422736747

so could get for less on fleabay and is pretty good! looper tons of stuff

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

yea I like the idea of sticking the guts of some cheap knockoffs
into an uber box with all crossconnects and power built in
with a 110 cord hanging out the back

separate the before and after preamp pedals in house
with an FX send/return

a suitcase handle on top

I'm digging it

but the pedal board is more modular
and that is the beauty of it
if your taste changes next year
you dont have to rebuild the entire box

or if you decide to move the chorus to the other side of the chain

or you get that buzz from somewhere

Re: Guys - Im imaginging an interesting box/multi-fx

That's why I'm saying something with the "classics" There is ALWAYS a time and a place for a TS9, Phase 90, DD-3 etc...
