Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

And by the way, for the record, my "dream" V collection is:

Cherry Sunburst Flame Dean
Inferno Dean (see above)
Schenker Retro (see original Post)
Epiphone Korina (disguised as a Gibson)
Mustaine Rust In Peace Dean
Mustaine Angel of Deth Dean

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

Ok - I think you guys need a reality check. The number of guitar players UNDER 35 who know or care who Schenker is , is pretty dang small! But I agree - the black/white is just sort of generically cool. Really goes with anything....

And just because you guys don't have the chops or ballz to play the Peace Sells out, doesn't mean I don't!

As for the 58 Korina, we;ll, I mean, of ciurse, exceptional style and grace is, well, exceptional. even an Epi with a doctored plate...Which makes me really think....

You'll notice I wasn't commenting on the aesthetics ;). Imo, it's moot; if a guitar plays like sh!t but looks cool, game over. Well, guitarists aren't always the most practical minded lot.

How about something like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Epiphone-Li...645&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&sd=121038178237&

There seem to be a few Epis floating around that are a mix of '58 and '67 specs.

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

I would definitely get NEITHER.

The body shape on the black and white combined with the neck on the crazy graphics could work (hate the big Dean headstocks and hate the graphics and pointy body shape).

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

Spec-wise I like the Mustaine better than the Schenker, the fact that I've played a Schenker and hated it also helps I guess. I've liked all the Mustaine guitars I've played but the graphics are either take it or leave it.

At least it's the cover of an album, that's always gonna be more relevant than the generic metal graphic.

If you're cool with the looks then I'd go with the Mustaine.

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

Ok - my first choice was the Rust In Peace V w/ Duncaine Mustaine pickups....but $$$. So that leaves Peace Sells.

And I AM going to get a Dean. They frown upon you playing Gibsons at Dean events....Even the Micheal Schenker plays the Deans.

The Cherry Burst is definitely on the list. That is actually very "me" as V's would go. But I'm feeling like doing something crazy.

What I really want is one of these:

But again, price is a consideration. So until The Price Is Right (COME ON DOOOOWWWWWWWN!!!!!!), it's gonna be Peace or Schenker.

Dude, unless you have less than a year to live, just save up for what you really want. Why do you need to buy something right now?

Actually, if you have less than a year to live, buy it on credit right now, because **** 'em, right?

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

The insatiable need for instant gratification puts a lot of inferior guitars in impatient players' hands.

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

Definitely neither of the guitars in the OP. And don't base your decision on what pickups come in the thing, because I've heard there are ways to fix that.

Anything like a '58 or a '67 Gibson is a classy, no-nonsense place to start. If Dean makes a reasonably priced neck-through Dave model without graphics, that would also be a valid choice. Don't underestimate the difference in feel and sound between a 24-fret neck-through V and a 22-fret set-neck Gibson-style V.

Re: Guys, I'm torn...FNGD help

I also vote neither. Graphic paint jobs date terribly. I also worry about the scarfed-on Vee headstock. That Korina piece looks tasty. How about an RR model?

All the more reason to buy a Gibson, screw what everbody else thinks, play what feels and sounds good. BTW the Gibson V head is much more practical when you have to shove your guitar up some self-righteous holier-than-thou wannabe´s ass, something I always find an urge to do at Dean events. Love the guitars, can´t stand the fans. ;)

And BTW I´d most DEFINITELY buy a Jackson King v before even considering one of Moosetaine`s ego-fueled knockoffs. Ever since JCMI said "NO" to him buying the company he´s been throwing a hissy fit, swapping manufacturers like his underwear, and forcing them to succumb to his demands of skirting trademark lawsuits with Jackson by approximating the guitar he wished he still had access to as closely as possible.

Gibson makes Flying Vs, Jackson makes King Vs, and anything by anybody else is a knockoff whether they are willing to admit it or not. And I don´t play knockoffs, which pisses Schmier and Mike off rougly once a month. :friday:

theres a couple peace sells in springfield nj and orange ct GC's. 259 clams if you're still considering it. the one in NJ looks to have unchipped tips. theyre 500 new right? 259 seems like a fair price to me.
