got a les paul standard and have a duncan custom in the bridge.

im looking for a neck pup to match it.

i play everything from zz top to pantera.

i rip alot of leads with both pickups on to get that real smooth sustain tone
but also have a nice warm tone when the amp is clean.

ive tried pearly gates, i like the tone for certain stuff but it had a little too much twang and not enough sustain so to speak.

hit me up :bigthumb:

I'm going to go out on a tangent here and say a Jazz for the neck, dude.

rock.

Re: Guys Need some Help Here -

I have the full shred neck also but, for smooth and warm I would say the Alnico II pro. I think it will work out for you better than the Jazz also for what you are looking for. Maybe a Seth Lover will do it for you also.

Re: Guys Need some Help Here -

thanks guys!

im familiar with the jazz in the neck - i had an explorer that had a jb bridge and jazz neck combo. i remember it sounding real good but that was yrs ago -

im leaning toward the seth lover, then a 59

maybe a dimebucker for the neck?

Re: Guys Need some Help Here -

I'd say go A2P... I have one in the neck of my Les Paul and it is buttery, smooth and defined without sounding harsh. A little less twang and more singing tone than the PG.

BTW, won't the dimebucker in the neck overpower the Duncan Custom in the bridge?

the guy who invented fire said:
Im gonna say go with a good ole' 59n!
I think a 59 would work good also. I played a gutiar with jb/59 combo and it sounds awesome when they were mixed.

Re: Guys Need some Help Here -

I'm going with the A2P also. It's the smoothest most balanced of all the neck pickups I've tried. Nice and warm and that's in a strat...... It quickly became my fav. neck pup from Duncan. Though I've yet to try my 59/Jazz Hybrid...
