Hello, i am about to buy my first strat. All my experience with guitars has been with rear routed pickups, never a pickguard.
I am interested in the USA Deluxe Ash strat but it only comes in S/S/S config.

Would it be possible to drop a H/S/S pickguard and configuration into this guitar ? I am not sure what the pick up cavities look like under a strat.
My other option would be USA Deluxe Strat HSS.......but it don't come in tobacco sunburst......!

Also, would replacing the stock pups with SD's bypass the S1 system ? I haven't figured out if the S1 strats use active pups stock or not.

Thanks!

Yeah, that thing has a HSH route. No problems anywhere.

WTF is the S1 system?

According to what I found on eBay looking for replacement bodies of that type, it is routed HSH, so you should be able to use an HSS pickguard, no problem.

Not if it were simply dropped in as replacement.

It doesn't.
The S1 is just a wiring scheme that adds series/parallel and a cap to change the tone in certain settings.

Yeah but just because the REPLACEMENT body is HSH doesnt mean the ACTUAL one is. There's a lot of HSH replacement Strat bodies floating around ebay.. and its mainly because you dont see the HSH route with the pickguard being on top of it. So when you buy the body if you wanna go traditional SSS you can but if in the back of your mind you are thinking about humbuckers you can always just get a new pickguard later and throw a humbucker in instead of having to route a humbucker slot like in regular Strat body.

I'd look into it more then that personally..
