H2O Liquid Chorus & Echo , Opinions?

Hello forum brothers, I could use your opinions (good, bad or indifferent) on the H20 Chorus & Echo unit.
I'm looking to get a good chorus and delay and I would be interested in killing two birds with one stone with this unit. Any help would appreciated.......Joe

Its a great pedal, i've got one on myh board. The chorus is thick and watery, very versatile. The delay is not extreme, you wont get anything rally crazy or long out of it, its basically good for atmosphere and subtle use, very analogue in sound. I use an EHX memory man for my crazier delay stuff.

The only thing I would say is that it adds a fair bit of noise to the signal, but that doesnt bother me.

The noise wouldn't bother me. Does the delay do a rockabilly type slapback?

Hey Joe--

I had one and got rid of it. I thought the delay was really nice but the chorus sounded very digital to me. May just be the amp I was using it with, but it didn't sound good. Very nice on cleans but any dirt or distortion didn't cut it. From what I remember, it has a couple of different settings for the delay and I think it does do something rockabilly sounding.

Yeah it will do rockabilly easy. Its got a short/long switch as well as a delay time pot, switch it to short and you're good to go.

I own one. I only use the delay on the long side for a subtle slap back. The chorus is very cool, I'm just partial to my amp chorus. I leave this pedal and my CS-3 Compressor/Sustainer on all the time. The CS-3 is first in line in my pedal chain and the H2O is last in line. Not recommending this set up, just the way I like it. :beerchug:

I love the pedal and don't have any noise problems with it (unlike the compression side of my Route 66, also from Visual Sounds).

Mine is a few years old, and there is a very noticeable "pop" when switching from long echo to short echo IIRC. I think it only happens when you turn on/plug in the pedal set for short echo, then switch back & forth. The prez @ V.S. acknowledged the problem. Hopefully he's fixed it now. Also, it's not something you would do on the fly anyway since it's a rocker switch. Frankly, I never use the long echo anyway, so it's not a problem for me.

someone might have already mentioned this, but you need a good AC adapter and tehre won't be any noise. Try a One Spot. They are great.

Bill, I used to have one of these. I got rid of it because I realized I don't like ANY chorus. But I digress... be wary about buying this for the "2 birds" aspect. It is made for them to both be on at the same time. Here's how it works: To much 'chorus' sound gets all detuney and not that pleasing (IMO). The point of the unit is to dial up low to moderate chorus and then engage a litte analog delay to fatten it up. Since it is analog the repeats modulate a litte and make a little tiny chorus effect of their own. By doing this you get a thick, lush, pretty chorus without wandering into cheap, ovestated, mass produced chorus land.

Anyways, I think it is a great unit. But if you want a delay, you should probably buy a delay . If you want a chorus...buy this unit.

That's probably why I didn't like mine. I had the chorus on all the time and only kicked in the delay for certain stuff like leads. I used reverb from the amp for echo.

Thanks for the kind words. I had alot of contact with the Visual Sound owner on this unit. He's a class act. Once he taught me how to use it I became aware that it sounded phenomenal! I also realized that I hate chorus:laugh2: ! I wish I hadn't got rid of it so I would have it on session work. Hell of a pedal...when used correctly
