i have a demon/jazz set, and i really wasnt happy with the tone. just wasnt hot enough.

had the soldering iron warmed up, and i thought 'screw it, lets disconnect the tone pot'

*plink* goes the tone pot wire, and now im amazed by just how good this set really is :burnout:

i still need new tubes, but i'll do my best to get some clips.. this is the first pair of humbuckers i've owned which have really made me go 'whoa!'

Just curious, do you know what value cap you had? The reason I'm asking is, SD diagrams show using .047uf caps, and a lot of folks have had good luck by going to .022uf, or even .01uf. Either of those would give you back a little more high-end and "air", while allowing you to maintain a bit of control via the tone control.

Just a thought.

many people dont use the tone control much and dnt realize that it changes the tone even when its full up. glad you found something that works for ya!!

Just a question here, related to tone pots..

Is there an audible difference between having no tone pot and having a no load tone pot?

A no-load tone pot, and no tone pot are identical. (When the no-load is on 10.) A no-load tone pot removes itself from the circuit when on 10.
