Had enough of the Custom Time for a new Bridge Pup

Hi There

I have been playing with the SH5 custom pickup in a mahogany PRS with Rosewood neck for a few years now, and i like it alot for its heavy sounds and tightness in the bass its nice and chunky. But the problem is I'm finding the high end is getting too harsh at times and i have to really roll the tone knob back to eliminate that fuzzy top end under gain but doing that cuts out the tone.

I think i want to go more vintage sounding in the bridge like a meaty AC/DC type of tone where the sound is fairly open and not to compressed. But i dont want to much top end and i like it raw but sweet. Can you guys recommend me something? I have an APH2 in the neck which i really like and i have them both split.

Do a mag swap and turn the Custom into a SH-14 Custom 5.

try 250k pots first. 250k pots will tame the fuzzy highs a bit.

The 250K pots are a great idea, other than that a 59b is also a good idea.

I'd move to a C-5 or CC. C-5 has the tight bass, and the mids/highs sound like a 59. The CC has dense lower mids and a creamier top, so you won't have to roll back your tone on that pickup. However, the bottom is just a bit looser than the Custom or C-5.

Concering the 59B and the C5 don't both these pickups, have quite a bright harsh top end?, what about the mids on both compared to the custom the tone chart looks like they are pretty flat or low in the mids. Its mainly the top end im worried about, wether it is fizzy/grainy (custom) or smooth under overdrive.
