went to the music store today, just for sh!ts n giggles.

was testing out a bunch of guitars through a Roland MicroCube trying to test its capabilities.

Picked up a Hagstrom Ultra Swede, and wow. I'm stunned. What a fantastic feeling guitar, smooth buttery neck, excellent finish, good pickups, and so easy to play.

Basswood body
flame maple top + binding (gorgeous finish too)
Composite wood fretboard, maple set neck
Custom made A5 Hagstrom pups (sorta fat, hot vintage kinda specs)
Stop tailpiece with INDIVIDUAL BRASS BLOCKS FOR EVERY SINGLE STRING
Tune-o bridge
graphite nut
vol, tone, 3-way switch, coil tap mini toggle

and it's only $475 US

I smell a deal, methinks.

Anyone else own or had any experience with these gorgeous pieces of luthiery?

I played a Hagstrom the other day. Was very impressed.... New $450, used they had one for $320.

I want it but can't swing it right now.

it seems wrong that they can offer that kinda quality for that cheap...

yep they are good. One of my students has one. Its nice.
Also George Golla used one at the recent Jazz at the Philharmonic Downunder show. He has played everything over the years including his own signature model maton archtops.
Get one before the word gets out....

The one I played had P90s and they actually sounded good enough for me to not worryabout changing them out and tht has never happened with a guitar under $750.

It looks like a better looking Single Cut PRS... I wonder if they're made at the same factory in Korea...?

i think one of their secrets is buiding everything in-house, even tuners and pickups

keeps cost low & i've yet to be disappointed by a Hag

I played and enjoyed one locally. Again, its amazing what is avail for that pricepoint these days.. If Id have had my Michael Kelly Patriot Custom when I started, who knows where Id be..
