Re: Hallelujah! Tell me what'cha think...

Thanks Robert - guess you're the only one around this morning who likes it! LOL!

Anyways, that was live in the studio. All three of us in the same room - no overdubs. Then Sandra went back and improvised some harmonies a few minutes later and did overdub those. She's really good I think.

Thanks again, Lew

I like her voice a lot, it is a little high in the mix ( imo), but very nice. She reminds me a bit of Jewel. Very tasty!

Wonderful stuff!

I'm a huge fan of the Cohen version, but equally so the David Bazan version... really melancholy. But it's also very nice to listen to more uplifting/pretty versions - and this is one of those, and a fine one at that!

I haven't heard any other versions of it besides KD Lang's. Ours isn't really based on any other versions. I just loved the tune and Sandra knew it so we did it. Many thanks!

Jewel...hmmm. Well, Jewell's a nice gal!

Sandra is young. 25. Younger than my daughter!

She's a real sweetheart.

My brother Casey Collins is one of the best singers in the world - he really is! He's her vocal teacher and he recommended her to me and I liked her right away.

Thanks for the kind words. I know this isn't the kind of music most the guys here gravitate towards - but it's what I do more of than anything else.

Thanks again!

Lew

That was beautiful! I've always loved that song, so much ebb and tide of emotion in the vocals.

Yeah - that's a sign of a real artist. I think Sandra has what it takes.

I loved working with Sherrie but Sherrie was as much a stage actress as a vocalist - she'd really work at developing an interpretation and acting it out, whereas Sandra just delivers the goods. More spontaneous and relaxed and less mannered.

Sandra's a little purer of a musician. And she really is a musician: she plays keyboards as well as guitar, although I've only heard her sing so far.

Thanks!

Very nice indeed! Nice guitar work (in addition to the lovely voice).

I played this once in church - just me on guitar and a young lady singing (it was the Lincoln Brewster version) and the small kids immediately identified it as the song from Shrek.

Man, you are real clean with that left hand! props for the rock solid time on the right hand too --- I KNOW it's hard to play slow!

Not a bad mix either.

Re: Hallelujah! Tell me what'cha think...

Thanks Guys!

And Rid, I'm home helping Carole with the turkey and veggies but in-between, having fun with my new Satchurator - and comparing it to my Jemini!

All your fault - I really dug those clips of you and your Satchurator and had to try one.

Thanks again guys! I'm really looking forward to working more with Sandra and Brad. And to the Colorado guys: you really should check out Evergroove Studios. Very reasonable and Brad and Jenny are great to work with. Beautiful mountain setting too! http://www.evergroove.com/

Guitar and voice are beautiful! I like that song and you did a nice job on it. The recording is stellar too. A few little timing bumps but not enough to hurt my feelings.

Nice to finally hear you Lew.
