Halo Customs

Has anyone here heard of or played a Halo Custom guitar. I love some of the options they have and if, that's a big if, I ever have the money I would love to get one depending on their quality.

Re: Halo Customs

I've heard mixed reviews and I seriously considered purchasing from them a few months ago before I did some digging. Apparently, their first few instruments had horrible quality control and so buyers ended up with 8 strings that lacked holes for the string through body (the bridge had to be taken off to restring the guitar). That guitar was rebuilt for the original owner and when he sold it to another guy, Halo tracked him down and offered a free build to him as well (I believe that ended after the second owner though, so don't get any ideas of buying that for $100 and getting a brand new instrument for free). They blamed the poor quality on the overseas factory that was building the guitars for them. They've since switched the factory and have had much better instruments produced. In this case, you may want to buy a stock instrument (usually around $700 or so) before you shell out the dough for a custom built one. You can always return the first purchase if you don't like it. It's usually a lot harder to return a custom instrument.

Re: Halo Customs

I have a custom shop 7 string from halo, Its a good quality instrument very resonant and whatnot... that being said I would never deal with them again they are easy enough to get ahold of for customer service but I had few issues. I originally heard of them because my friends were in a band and got an endorsement from them, I played their guitars and I thought they were nice, so I kept them in mind. I too heard about quality control issues from the internet but I had played some of their products and really liked them. The problems I had were because they have their factory overseas some things can get lost in translation. I ordered my guitar with black bindings and after a few months wait for the guitar to be built I got an email from their customer service guy saying that the factory didn't put on the bindings and I could have them rebuild the body (and wait longer) or they would refund me the cost of the bindings, I went ahead and just got it without bindings and it still looks good to me, but I paid a lot of money for a custom instrument and they managed to mess that up so they will not get my business again.
