Hamer Echotone '335' p/u upgrades???

Looking to ditch the Duncan Designed HB- 102 & 103 that came stock with this guitar and was looking for a few thoughts.

Initially I'm thinking of a Phat Cat Neck and Pearly Gates bridge, though I'm torn between the PG, Alnico II and '59 for a bridge.

Looking to get a clear, clean sounding neck pup and a good classic rock sounding bridge that'll get some jangle when backing off the volume.

Thanks in advance,
Mic

"...good classic rock sounding bridge that'll get some jangle when backing off the volume."

I think that's pretty much the definition of a 59B. They sound even better unpotted.

My best-sounding 335's have:

- '57 Classic (A4) in the bridge/Phat CatN (A5/A4)
- C5/'59N
- Pair of Carvin Classic C22's

These are great for classic rock & Chicago blues.

Howdy,

My old ES-335 has a set of '59s and sounds great for 50s & 60s rock, Blues, C&W, Jazz. What more could I ask for in a HBer? Good luck!

I'll have to back eggman on this one... I have a '59 set in my '335 copy and they are nothing short of spectacular. I have a set of Seth Lovers that I wanted to install in there but didn't even bother... that's how good they sound to me.

If you want jangle, steer clear of hotter pickups. The 59b would be my choice out of those listed.
