Re: Hamer how much?
OK folks, this beast is a Hamer Slammer series strat style. Hadjie came over tonight and I just finished setting it up for him.
The frets are excellent, and the fretboard wood is a nice, dark piece of rosewood. Medium jumbo frets with a 12" radius is really the way to go (Fender needs to catch up on this in their MIM line). The body is not plywood, but a multipiece just like the Mexi strats. Everything is well shielded with paint and the wiring is neat. The trem design is much like the Am Std strat's, though the saddles feel cheap and the block is small. If it were mine, I'd drop a Wilkinson in there.
The pickups are mid wind ceramics, again, much like Fender's MIMs. It's routed for HSH, so swapping in you're fave set of Duncans wouldn't be a problem. The tuners are great, the nut is cut well (though its plastic), and the neck is tight in the joint and the guitar is very alive as far as resonance goes.
Overall, it's head and shoulders above the average Mexi strat, IMHO.
If it were mine, I'd drop a well cut bone nut in there, a Wilkinson VS100, and a set of Surfers ( or a pair of Stack + in the neck and mid and a JB in the bridge). The tuners are fine and the body and neck would do very well.
If you don't mind the name on the headstock (I don't

), it's a great buy, especially for under $80USD like Hadjie got his.
