I held my first Hamer Standard in 1978 in Minneapolis at Knut Koppee Music and it took me 5 years after that to find/get my first from a Jacksonville, Florida pawn shop.

Still have a Knut Koupee T shirt given to me 20 years ago when I bought a used USA Washburn from the Uptown location. I did not expect to hear that name!

I have a license plate from the store. LOVED that place from 1977 to 1982 When I moved South.

A shame. PRS does not and never has made a guitar you could trade me for one of my Hamers, assuming I had to keep the PRS. Fantastic instruments combined with one of the worst jobs of brand management in history.

If this is true it's a bummer. I owned a Studio for a while but didn't gel with the feel of the neck/body. It was top notch with killer Aztec gold over flamed maple and sounded great.

I've always been confused with who they were as a company and who sold them. But consistently their reputation on build quality has never been questioned.

Only negative I've ever felt towards Hamer is the finish on the later models. To thick.

I once owned two Hamer Monoco Super Pros. The finish was to thick for my tastes but they were wonderful guitars otherwise.
