Re: Hamer?

I have only played a couple of different Hamers. I wish I had bought them.

Re: Hamer?

I've tried a couple of MIK models and I absolutely loved them. Their take on the Explorer is killer.

Re: Hamer?

The ones I've had the experience of laying hands upon were impressive; USA and some of the upper level imports. I really like the Double Cuts like the ones pictured above.

Re: Hamer?

i have three very different usa hamers. a daytona, monaco elite, and chapperel. they are all great guitars for what they are and i absolutely recommend getting one. it would be better to get your hands on one to make sure you like the neck and im not used to three knobs on gibson style guitars but they are well built regardless

Re: Hamer?

Old Hamers are really good guitars. I tend to think of them in the same thought as old Deans (though they did have awesome superstrats like the Californian). They were sort of doing Gibson better than Gibson was during the 80s.

Re: Hamer?

I personally think they are some seriously underrated guitars made. Serious resonance, most every one Ive played definitely had some mojo. I dont have my USA Sudio anymore, regretfully. But I do have to high end imports and love them.

local pawn shop has one for a hundred and fifty bucks...never heard... maybe I should take a look.

Re: Hamer?

I had a Special FM that was fantastic; I never should have sold mine-it was one of the best guitars I've gone through. I'd love to get one of those Korina models with the single P90.

No little usa logo after the Hamer logo=import and maybe a good deal at that price. More info needed to ID it.

Hamer? YEAH Man!

Hamer? YEAH Man!

USA Studio Customs are (Insert your favorite superlative) guitars. :headbang: This is 5-0 my 1991 Sunburst Archtop. The name of the Studio before it became that. It is basically the "grandson" of the Sunburst model. Mine being the son and the original flat top Sunburst being the grandad of the line.

You'll want to avoid the Slammer line of Hamers. That is like the Squier Affinity line, ultra cheapo import stuff. The good Hamers are the USA ones and high end imports.

Re: Hamer?

I remember in the 80s drooling over the Hamer ads in the Circus and other mags I used to get. I had a box full of Circus and Faces and stuff that had all the 80s Kramer, Hamer, Ibanez, Charvel and Jackson ads in them.. My mom tossed them when she moved.. Not to mention all the pics of the bands I loved , Ratt, crue, dokken....etc
