In the case of Hamers, the -itis means there is a slight discoloration/bubbling of the clear coat, usually around the fretboard or neck joint. It in no way compromises the playability or tone. But the slight cloudiness that is apparent at these spots is a common finding on older Hamers. My 94 Mirage has some, my 01 Artist Korina does not.
