Hameritis?

Re: Hameritis?

-itis basically means inflammation. Inflammation has 4 components: rubor, dolor, calor, and tumor. Rubor = redness, dolor = pain, calor = heat, and tumor = swelling. :bigthumb:

In the case of Hamers, the -itis means there is a slight discoloration/bubbling of the clear coat, usually around the fretboard or neck joint. It in no way compromises the playability or tone. But the slight cloudiness that is apparent at these spots is a common finding on older Hamers. My 94 Mirage has some, my 01 Artist Korina does not.

Yep, my '96 Special FM has a little bit, mainly on the back. No big deal to me, they look sort of like fingerprints when they catch the light just right.

Re: Hameritis?

Great answer Travis. Dead on too. My '97 Mahogany Standard has a lil at the neck joint. I regret I have displaced the knowledge of why this happens. :nervous: :duh:
