Hank Marvin & TravisBean Virtual Jam

I did this on a whim, and it's my first YouTube upload. I've seen many videos where an instrumentalist will jam along to a song, and I decided to do one a little differently, by showing just my guitar fretboard along side a video. A "Virtual Jam " so to speak. I use this song as a warm-up at the start of guitar practice sessions, but the song has really grown on me, like it alot. (yes, I know it's dated, but Hank Marvin's impeccable technique and style still shines through)
This was done with a Panasonic Lumix ZR3 "piont and shoot" using AVCHD lite movie mode.

PEDANTIC OBJECTION. In musical circles, the word jam indicates collective improvisation. Playing in synch with a pre-existing recording is not improvisation.

Apache is an all-time classic. Hank is professionalism personified. I am an annoying old get who would rather listen to (or watch) you playing your own material.

I tend to agree with FF ............AAAAAAND I hate listening to stuff recorded with cam microphones. It always sounds like a tinny transistor radio.:banghead:

[ Another cranky old bastard! ]

Yes, but I played it differently and added a bit of a twist to it. I played the melody with harmonics Vs open strings, and repeated parts of the main theme in between some of the open melody spots. I do kind of jam out at the very end of the song. I agree the cam mikes are a bit on the cheesy side, but I kinda like what I've done.........just a warm-up piece that I thought I'd throw out there. It was not really intended to be anything else. I figured someone might like it, and if not, oh well.
I do sincerely appreciate the honest feedback.

The first feedback that I got (from a different forum):

NICE version! Played that song as a kid in a surf rock band. Makes me want to bust out the Strat and relearn it.

Thanks for posting it.

So obviously not everyone is gonna like or dislike it. I'm my own worst critic, so to everyone who dislikes it, I can certainly understand why.

I was grumbling about your use of English.

I said nothing (positive or negative) about your playing other than that I would prefer to hear your own original material.

Nice mate, love a bit of ank'. I used to be in a shadows cover group actually, I'll post a few links if you are interested.

Kev, your mixes sound great. Your playing also reflects a real "feel" for that type of music. Loved it.
