Hank Marvin

As a fan of him and the Surf/instrumental music of the 60's i wonder how to get a good Marvin sound? I know he used a strat but what amp and pickups did he use? And what sort of strings was available in the 60's, did they have roundwounds? Nickel/steel? Gauge?
