Yes, you read that right. It was a question.

I got home from work a half ago and found this on my doorstep:

Its addressed to me so I open it up and find this

Its an LTD Ec-256. Great right? Except I didn't order one. I haven't order anything from musicians friend since I bought my JB about a week or two ago.

I checked my MF account and it's not in my purchase history. I checked my bank and there are no purchases pending or otherwise that I cant account for, nothing.

So, uh...which one of you guys works at MF and decided to gift me an axe?

Oh, the guitar itself is sweet. Plays nicely, good weigh, fast neck with wicked fret access, and coil tap.

I guess I'm a lucky guy. Unless its a well disguised bomb.

It's sweet . . . but you know, you've got to give it back? :nono:

Then again, they may not want to deal with the hassle of the return, and offer you a killer deal to keep it. :)

And deny it a home? Condemn it to the used section to be discarded?

I can't. It would weigh too heavily on my conscience.

SD accidentally sent me someone else's order once. Before they'd arrived, I'd had an email from them telling me to keep them. So I ended up with my correct order plus the four pups destined for someone else too. Can't remember exactly what they were, but it was two 7-string and two 6-strings pups. No one ever accidentally sent me a guitar though.

With all the pedals I've bought from them I'm surprised I've never received a gift. ;)

I once received a drum machine from MF out of the blue about 10 or so years ago. Sent it right back.

Thats the MF Guitar of the Month Club subsciption. The first guitar is sent absolutely free, and you should have received the form to either keep it, and receive 11 guitars of the year billed at the price stated on the contract, or send the guitar back at no cost or obligation.

Honestly, you can check if you want. They can't MAKE you send it back. You don't owe them anything If someone shipped It to you and you didn't ask for it. But congrats anyway!

I'm convinced this guitar is supposed to be mine. With the coil-split engaged the tone is awesome. The pickups themselves aren't bad per se...but the aren't really defined.

Its even pretty well intonated out of the box to boot.
