Hardcore Pawn rip off

Re: Hardcore Pawn rip off

That whole show is completely fake anyway. The vintage guitars that are "pawned" are all loaned to the show. Nothing is ever actually sold.

I don't doubt this, but how do you know it?

Re: Hardcore Pawn rip off

Because most "Reality" shows are fake? Just a guess. :)

I was just wondering if there was anything specific, other than just guessing.

On the other hand, could you imagine how expensive production would be if a camera crew, including the people with the clipboards and the waivers, had to hang around a pawn shop, practically 'round the clock, waiting for something worthwhile to come through? People are always talking about how cheap it is to produce these shows. Probably because they're just professional versions of some kid's YouTube show, under the hood. You come up with an idea, you write a script, call a couple of actors who are home watching The Price is Right, go rent a guitar or an old Civil War-looking sword, you shoot in the afternoon, edit that night, and you're done.

I have been told by a couple of my dealers that the show recreates "pawns" from stories, and then borrows the vintage instruments. There was also a thread on (I think) TGP about it as well, and the Vegas dealer that actually loaned the instruments posted up basically the same thing.

I figure if they are making up the crap about people pawing instruments, then the rest is probably fake as well.

Ayrton, are you thinking of pawn stars? They are in vegas. That show is totally fake. As are the storage unit shows.

Re: Hardcore Pawn rip off

Yeah Hardcore Pawn is in Detroit. Totally different show. I did see an episode where a dude brought in a drumset. That "expert" drums like a man possessed!! He really is a kickass drummer.

Yes, sorry... I did not realize there were more than one reality pawn show. I don't watch much television as it is, and I detest "reality" shows.

Re: Hardcore Pawn rip off

Reality TV must be the Santa Claus equivalent for undiscerning adults.
