Lets us know when you've had a chance to play it. BTW, it's a semi-hollow, not hollow (big difference in feedback).

Re: Harley Benton HB-35 CH 335 copy

I've heard nothing but good things other than a few guys who received them with bad frets.

So, nothing bad EXCEPT ______________ (fill in the blank). Contradictory.

I am unlikely to play a hollowbody out so I dont need something incredible

Wherever you play, you will not want yer fingers lacerated by poorly finished fret ends.

just something fun to dick around with at home and in the studio.

The studio is usually where all that is worst about a guitar is exposed for all to hear.

Having obtained the guitar at such a bargain price, you can lavish all of the money that you saved on a professional fret dress and set up.

Re: Harley Benton HB-35 CH 335 copy

If it's bad enough to need a fret dress right out of the box, I'll probably send it back.

The other HB I bought played great right out of the box.

Re: Harley Benton HB-35 CH 335 copy

Fingers crossed, then.

Re: Harley Benton HB-35 CH 335 copy

Very impressed. It's beautiful, and other than a loose pot, no faults that I or my tech can find.

I've inspected and played it, my tech has inspected, adjusted, and played it, and a musician friend has played it. I also took it to two different music stores to compare it. I was hoping to find a Gibson 335 to compare it to, no one had one in stock, but I did compare it to a Gretsch and an Epiphone Dot.

Everyone agrees, the feel, build, and sound quality are better than the Dot. I was the only one that compared it to the Gretsch and I found them to be very similar.

If anything, this is a better guitar than the TE-80-NT Mad Cat Telecaster Copy.

More video coming.

Re: Harley Benton HB-35 CH 335 copy

Congrats! Not really my kind of guitar but that looked well made/fine to me...

Truth is, the very cheapest guitars I've bought have always played best/had the best setup out of the box.. :lmao:

People take it for granted that a Chinese/Indo/Korean guitar will have sharp frets/bad action/bad nut installation/setup etc.... but I've yet to come across any of those issues (and I've bought plenty of cheap axes!).

The Indonesian Ibby SA I just bought had a problem with a pickup ground wire coming loose (fixed it ...& I mostly swap pups/electronics anyway) but otherwise, it's beautifully finished, sounds awesome & plays like butter...

thomann really nails these harley bentons. I had a couple of friends that ordered them just to get into playing guitar without spending much and each of them has been great, only thing I found once was a bit of a rough edge on a guitar with binding. They really improved it and went from no name hardware to wilkinsons hardware... they are a really good deal, you can't get anything comparable for that kinda money. also thomann claims that they setup each guitar that leaves the door.... congrats on your new guitar! enjoy it

Both guitars I've bought arrived damn near set up and in tune. They bought benefited from additional adjustment.

Re: Harley Benton HB-35 CH 335 copy

Well, it sounds like a semi should, so that is good.

It sounded identical to the Gretsch although I didnt have much chance to do a fair comparison.

It sounded better than the Dot. Warmer, fuller, clearer, more definition. Dot sounded thin and muffled in comparison.
