Has anybody ever used the Air Norton S

How does it compare with the full-sized humbucker version?

I love the AN, but my strat is routed SSH. I'm wondering how closely the single-coil version emulates the real thing.

I became too frustrated with the new SD forum pup so I ordered an AN S a few days ago. It got here quick! The pup is very well constructed (almost SD level) and h-e-a-v-y for a single coil. Due to other commitments, it will be a while before I get it in. Sorry I can't help you out further.

Re: Has anybody ever used the Air Norton S

I just wanted to chime in and say that I've been looking for some decent clean sound samples of the Pro Track, Air Norton S and Super Distortion S, and Hermetico's sound demos listed above are great! The Tone Zone S he is using is close enough in tone to the Super Distortion S to give me an approximation of what the Super D "S" would sound like.

It was also pleasing to find out that I really dug the sound of all 3 of these pickups (TZ S, Pro Track and Air Norton S) in humbucking mode in all the typical strat positions (bridge, bridge+mid, mid, mid+neck, neck). This takes the hassle out of adding any extra switches, push/pulls, etc. Just a standard 5-way strat switch and all 3 pickups in humbucking mode for me.

Although a master switch that controls series/parallel mode for all 3 pickups at once would be a cool addition-- you could use it to thin the sound down just a tad to single coil type levels but still avoid single coil hum.

Bravo, Hermetico!

I have one. It sounds scary close to the full-size version. I like it a lot. Sadly, it's not in a guitar at the moment but that may change. It was in the neck position of a Strat with a Super Distortion in the bridge. Great combo. It's definitely worth trying. If you like the full-size version, I think you'll like the S version too.
