My RG420 is a great guitar but the Edge 3 is not so great...

so has anyone changed an edge 3 before with something that fits perfectly... no routing?

I hear OFR and Edge Pro fits perfectly...

The edge 3 on my guitar goes out of tune a lot and is very annoying so I am changing the bridge :P

Sounds like you have already doe some research? basically thats all you can do is just go see what toehrs have done in the same situation. If you say a ofr will fit then just go for it. My only advice would be make sure you get one with the right length block. you dont want it hanging out the back.

Like your horse is never hanging out of the barnyard door.

Look over at the Ibanez forum

The had at one time, in the technical / repair board, a list of what was a drop in replacement for what

I think some guy Megatron set it up

Anyways

What's wrong with the Edge III ?

The Floyd Rose isn't really a proper direct fit. The Edge Pro is, and is an excellent bridge. Just make sure you swap out the rubbish studs for some decent ones.

for how long do you have it? Is the guitar recessed to accommodate for trem arm pull ups as well? Maybe it takes a little bit of maintenance to bring back to performing state. Maybe the plate's edges are worn? Ibanezrules.com has a whole chapter on this. Very useful.

Look at the useful diagrams link. That Brian posted in post 7

In there is an image of my Ibanez bridge
The baseplate isn't supposed to be level

The fine tuner shelf is

Yours probably drifts down into the cavity
Pulling everything sharp

Mine did that when I first got it

It balances perfectly now
