I am not getting as much tonal difference as i would like between split and humbucking. There is some volume difference and it is a little thinner sounding. It is most noticible in clean amp settings. I was hoping for a little more. anyone have any suggestions on which pickups split well?

Yes, but since it was in an Eastern hardrock maple Carvin thru-neck with an ebony fretboard in standard tuning it sounded like a** no matter what.
I've since learned you pretty much need a dark sounding guitar (mahogany/mahogany/rosewood), drop tuning and a high-gain amp to make the Dimebucker sound like it's supposed to.
Live and learn.
So, yea, you pretty much described the Dimebucker tapped.

Here's hoping the Crazy 8 will be more interesting.
