Has anyone seen, heard or tried the frankfalbo highpass filter trick

I posted this in another thread but I don't think people are seeing it, so I'll try a new thread.

I was searching around the web about vintage style wiring and came across this. Anyone ever try this mod. From what I read it's a treble bleed that interacts with your tone control. I would just try it myself but right now my house is under major remolding and there is dust every where and no work place for a guitar.

If anyone has tried it, how did you like the results?
What cap size did you use for the bleed circuit? From what I could figure out it was 330pF cap.

How did it perform over vintage style wiring? What size cap did you use for it?

No one else has ever seen or tried this???

The one issue with "vintage" style that I have is the interaction with the volume and tone control. The drop in volume when you turn down the tone, I do not like at all. The "Tapered Treble Bleed" does not have this issue.

The values in the image are what I used, except on the neck pickup, I use a 0.015uF instead of the 0.022uF.

This works but a few people have mentioned a strange interaction with some pedals. I plug straight in these days so obviously I haven't experienced any pedal weirdness. I tried this in one guitar and left it in for a while. It seems to work great if you like a treble bleed. I removed it when I replaced pots and swapped pickups and just wired 50's, no treble bleed. The components are cheap so give it a try for yourself.

@If6Was9 - I found Frank Falbo's original post about this on jemsite. In one of the post he said he only used the stock treble bleed cap (no resistor) that Ibanez uses in there guitars. From what I found they use a 330pF cap size. Just out of curiosity did you try any other cap sizes?

@Darg1911 - As soon as I get done with all my construction work at my house (in a few months) I'm going to try this mod. Thanks for the heads up on the possible pedal weirdness. I have to ask, what size cap did you use? And did you use a cap only?

No, I have used the same size cap, but on one guitar that has 300k pots, I changed the resistor from 220k to a 150k. All my guitars have Humbucking pickups and the recommended size cap of .001uF seems to work just fine for my application. I did not feel the need to experiment with different size caps just the resistor for different value pots.

You don't need to use a resistor, but I find that without it, as you turn down the volume past the 5 mark, the tone seems to be way to bright.

What this thread needs is a first hand contribution from Frank Falbo to explain his thinking behind the mod. (A link to - or verbatim quote of - the original JEMsite post would suffice.)
