Has anyone successfully removed the logo on minihums?

Like the title says.

McDonald's used to have these aluminum ashtrays when you were allowed to smoke in restaurants. My brother and I used to grab them and by simply rubbing with a fingernail you could get the embossed golden arches logo to disappear. I wonder if the same can be said for the Duncan logo? Nickel silver is harder but probably thicker too. I thought maybe it would sand off? Anyone here brave enough to try it?

I'm making a Frankie for a pal and need to remove the " squire" logo on the unfinished headstock, so I'm gonna try nailpolish remover or lighter fluid, but I'm gonna piggyback this q: does anyone suggest scratching it off w thumbnail?

Khriss: that won't work, you need to sand it off. google how, since I've never been successfull with my macguyver attempts.

So far, the consensus is Brasso, the stuff your drummer likely uses to shine up his cymbals. They complain that besides shining up the cymbals, it also rubs the logos off their cymbals. Some abrasives aren't strong enough, and some are so strong, they'll dull the shine of the plastic or nickel. Apparently, Brasso is right in between.

They sell it nearly everywhere, so try it out.

I think Dominus just sands his squires and reprays with clearcoat

Are we talking about the embossed logos on the SM mini's? If we are, then there's no real way of removing them. You can't reallk see the logo from 10 paces anyway.

Thanks! I guess I'll try Scotch pad, the cousin to brillo, or mebbe hunt down this brasso.. I can handle the outline showing cuz that's the way it is on 78 version, I just fear scratching or spreading...

nail polish remover and elbow grease does work to remove a headstock logo. i've done it!

Yeah, we're talking embossed logos here, not single-sized humbuckers.

Sanding it down is going to depend on the depth of embossing and thickness of the cover. I don't have one of these in hand right now but I will get a SM-1 soon. I just want it to match my Antiquities, which are already roughed up. That's why I don't care about sanding off the chrome with the logo. Hey, if anything I'll be first to try it. Wouldn't be the first time.

I haven't tried it but I'm going to assume that removing the logo from mini's is just about impossible. Not sure if its embossed or engraved, but it IS cut into the surface of the cover so removing it would basically mean sanding the entire cover off.

If you need a mini without a logo you'll have to custom order one with a standard cover... if that's even an option. I have no idea...

But the bottom line is its not at all like the logo on a standard humbucker, where you can wipe it off in about 45 seconds with some rubbing compound. Its cut in there rather permanently.

I thought those were like stamped into it, like serial numbers are stamped into Gibson headstocks, only from the inside out?

that's how they look to me, but i've never gotten close enough to touch them...
