Has anyone tried a 59/Jazz bridge Hybrid?

Just curious. I may make one. I hear the Jazz is the most articulate, so I'd be interested in hearing a screw coil Jazz paired with a 59 screw coil and then maybe try different mags with it.:beerchug:

Hmmm.....Tempting? I have a 59 sitting in the box right now. I found the sound to be overwhelming at times. I switched to an A2. Butterchurned lows, but insufficient high end punch. Too smooth in other words. I need a little edge. Which brings us to the Jazz. I have never tried the jazz, but am interested after reading some reviews and such. Then I stumbled upon the 59/CC Hybrid. Awesome. I'm hooked. The rich deep PAF of a 59 combined with the articulation of the Jazz. What a combo. If ANYONE is interested, I would be willing to swap a 59 neck coil for a jazz coil. I think this might be what I was looking for.

To be honest, I think you might just be ruining the look of your pickups, since you'd have to mess the black tape up. I think there might be very little audible difference by combining the coils, since they're almost the same. The 59 is 8.1 and the Jazz is 7.9, so half of that pickup would be .1K apart from each other.

The difference would be greater by combining low output with high output humbuckers. With the Jazz, I'm pretty sure you'd want to use 250K pots in a strat, and 300K pots in a Gibson.

BachtoRock said that the Jazz/59 hybrid was very nice sounding. I think he was talking about it as a neck pickup though...

Well we know the Jazz and 59 are low output A5 pickups, but where do they differ? Does the Jazz use a different guage of coil wire?

I think so. I think that the JB and the Jazz use the same kind of wire. The reason that I think it is different wire is 1) I seem to remember reading somewhere that Seymour created the Jazz and JB at the same time with the same wire and 2) the DC resistance in a Jazz neck is higher than a '59n, even though it is lower output.
