I am yanking out my SD Diablo for (believe it or not) a hotter Hum (bridge). Th Diablo is alright but i am torn between the BKP Warpig which i have heard and the MCP Solution but never played but heard it is a monster.

Anyone play both and (for metal) and what was your opinion on either?

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

The ceramic warpig is my holy grail metal pickup, I don't think I would pull a diablo for one though. Never heard the solution.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

I have the Warpig in one of my Ibanez- great distortion but that's about it.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

I've heard people really like the Solution...but Love the Afawu. And I've not heard a bad review on the C-warpig.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

i had a custom Afwayu wound at MCP and its nice but it doesnt seem to have enough punch to it. Dont get me wrong its a nice pup but i am looking for a pup that can really get nasty. I dont want to go to active as i have an AHB 2 Metal but it to is thin...... I have tried the El Diablo and thought it was great at first but all in all a bit of a let down over all...

Maybe i am just looking for a pup that just isnt out there :(

Dude you don't need a hotter pickup to get more punch and br00tality. Get yourself a big fat Les Paul with killer primary tone and a tom bridge and crank your amp's power tubes! Add some mids and don't use all the gain available. I can get the most br00tal and punchy tones out of my Powerball with the gain at like 10 o' clock. Customs or Distortions are perfect for that kinda stuff. With the right rig, you can even get a gawddamn PAF into metal territory! Sometimes less is more - believe it or not ;)

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

Well i ordered the Warpig bridge and it should be here in about a week so i will let you know if it was worth it or not :)

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

Did you order the ceramic or the A5 version? They say the A5 is way bassy.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

Just get a damn X2N and call it a day.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

I got the Alnico Version but i requested a custom wind extra 30.00 but its from what i am being told from BKP it would achieve that really nasty growl but not so over the top its noise. I should have it by sat. and i will throw it in the bridge and let you know what i think of it.

I have a Warpig in a mahogany/maple top guitar and it lives up to it's name, it sounds like Iommi's tone on "Warpigs", "The Wizard" etc. As stated cleans are mediocre at best.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

A neck Warpig split/tapped is meant to be relatively good for cleans I hear.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

That's weird, I liked the clean sounds of the ceramic warpig.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

Bumping this because I recently got jimlp's alnico, I'm curious to hear what Distortionhead thinks of the Warpig.

I swapped it to a ceramic, then a big ceramic (which must be what BK uses, the sound I was originally looking for), but I'm back to the stock alnico. I think I actually like it best.

Oh yeah, and cleans are super good, both versions, I don't know what you guys are smoking. It ain't gonna sound like a strat.

My old WCR ceramic Iron Man kicked the crap out of the Solution.

Re: Has anyone tried both of these BKP Warpig MCP Solution

I've got a trifecta of Sabbath inspired pickups now, just need a Gibby Iommi.

The Ironman and Warpig are too different for one to be better than the other.

Okay Izzo, explain the differennce between the Warpig and Ironman. I think I need one or the other, and Ive heard that the IM can cover a lot of styles. Otherwise, I may just go with another Super D or something.

The Gibby Iommi blows, in a bad way.
