...to attach the cover to a humbucker pickup? Someone, somewhere mentioned this to me a few years ago but I've never tried it. What are your thoughts? TIA

Re: Has anyone tried hot glue instead of solder. . .

i think it will work but there's no solid connection for the ground for the cover to act as a shield .

I'm soooo glad that sentence didn't go where I thought it was . . . :laugh2:

I thought it would be "...to connect your pickups?" too.

i know exactly what you were thinking lol.... DO NOT USE GLUE ITS NOT A GOOD CONDUCTOR!!!! and believe it or not it slows the current down and produces a different sound.

I guess that, technically, you could use them to hook up your pickups, but I'd rather just wrap the wires on and hope the electrical tape holds them. Solder works SO much better though.

As for the covers, I'm sure it would work, though as said, there would be no electrical continuity.

anyone remember the inside of that plexi that had been wired up with bathroom sealant?! :D

and yeah - you'll not get the sheilding benefits of the metal cover if you dont solder them..

Why, oh why are stupid people allowed to be around valuable gear?

ahh, it came up aaages ago, it looked like a silly string party inside the chassis.. i think someone had modded it and tried to epoxy their mods to stop people copying it, but screwed up the expoxying totally, it looked awful :laugh2:

Sounds like they were trying to pull a Voodoo, and ended up pulling a Voo-DOH!
