Has anyone tried the Aphex xciter pedal?

Hey all! Has anyone tried one of these? Is it anything like a BBE? I'm very interested to see if they actually work. HC(a well trusted site for guitar info(sarcasm)) reviews are up and down about this thing. I need a brothers trusted opinion. Thanks!

I bought one from Sweetwater a few years back. I brought it to a gig and messed around with it and wound up pulling it out of the chain by the third song. I sent it back to Sweetwater the next day. To me it didn't seem to do much of anything - at least not enough to warrant me keeping it on the pedalboard. Just my opinion...

I've used the aural exciter. It's pretty cool and really makes acoustic instruments come alive, but not so much that it go regularly used. I think they are good products but a little overrated.

I've tried it on several occasions and it didn't seem to do anything to the sound... nothing at all. :yell:

I prefer using my BOSS EH-2 Enhancer for stuff like that. It's like a BBE in pedal form, I love it!

I picked up a Guitar Xciter at NAMM last year. The thing sounded so great at their booth that I bought it on the spot. I actually haven't really played around with it, but I'm wiring up my pedal board in the next couple of weeks, so I can let you know if it stays on there.

I have one and it works wonderfully. I am not using it anymore, since I bought a really high end amp (Boogie MK IV) and it doesn't need it, but I used with a Marshall AVT, a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and with a Super Reverb RI... it makes them sound REALLY great.

It's hard to describe the affect it has on the amp... it's like it "breathes life into it"... the Fender Tube amps classic "Bell Tone" jump out and slaps you in the face when this pedal is on. IT also tames and smooths out distortion and overdrive pedals really well.

Mine is sitting unused, but I haven't sold it yet because I am not sure if I want to get rid of it.
