Has anyone tried the BladeRunner from Super Vee? Very curious!

Re: Has anyone tried the BladeRunner from Super Vee? Very curious!

I have had my Bladerunner for almost a year, and the arm is fine. The steel spring loosens a bit over time, and doesn't feel stiff anymore. It is an improvement over a regular 6 or 2 post bridge, as there is no friction on the bridge's front edge. Locking tuners, a GraphTech nut & saddles help return to pitch, although for the first few months, the G would never come back in tune. I will say that the method for tightening or loosening the swing of the arm is bad....you need a screwdriver and an Allen wrench to do it, and it is easy to strip the top of that plastic nut (I did). They sell replacements, but this design is clumsy anyway- music man uses a pop in arm with an Allen wrench tensioner- you set this once and never have to do it again. I am constantly fiddling with the tension of the arm on the Bladerunner, since it never stays where I want it. Still, I like the action of the Bladerunner, but would change a few things. It should come stock with graphite saddles, or saddles with graphite inserts. The arm sits a little high, and I hate that it doesn't pop in. The arm tensioner system is wacky too, but all these in kind, I like it better than most traditional type trems.

lets just say that the quality of materials/sound does not justify the cost. i was about to put my original bridge back. Only bad thing is i can't sell the bladerunner (generally), and now even harder since its broken.

You can probably get the arm out with a screw extractor...buy a new arm and then sell it. I'd say it needs improvement, and not worth how expensive it is....if it was $50-$75 less, perhaps. If improvements were made, then certainly.

Thanx, i think it is still in the warranty. Most probably they will exchange it with a new one, which i can sell (if i am lucky since last time i got zero bids, and i had it rather cheap : 80 euros or so)

And what was the seller's reaction to that?

I raised that question (How to get the broken part out) and receive instructions via e-mail.

Following week, I received a notice from Chinese customs that a package came in and I needed to pick it up but needed to show my passport. At the time that I received that message from customs, I did not have any clue what was shipped. But when I opened the package, it was a replacement arm. Thanks Super Vee.

PS: I installed the Super Vee into three Strats and one of my friends here also installed one in his Strat.

We are quite pleased with the set-up and tone that stays consistent without the tuning problems of other Stratocaster bridges, including Callaham.

+ most of the tuning issues come from the nut, not the bridge.
