Has anyone tried this? Guitar Rig 2

I kinda want something better than the PODXT......if there is such a thing....so I was considering doing effects within a dedicated computer.....maybe with a touchscreen :)

Just wondering if anyone has tried this Guitar Rig2 from Native Instruments? If so how do you feel about it?

The link to the product on their website:

Kind of expensive from the site but I can get cheaper elsewhere....but if it sucks I don't want to mess with it....ya know?

Thanks

I haven't used #2, but I do have Guitar Rig at home. It's absolutely incredible what you can do with it. That being said, it's not without its downfalls. No matter what settings you come up with, it doesn't quite allow the guitar to breathe as much as I'd like. But if you're just doing home recording and need to go DI because of noise constraints, I highly recommend it. It's great for vocals & drums too.

Head to www.guitargeek.com/chat and search for posts by the user fiveways about Guitar Rig 2. Last I recall he was using that exclusively for his amps and effects in both a live and recording situation.

I have tried it briefly.

A lot of effects, mic and cab simulations. A lot of presets.

With my soundcard (Audigy2) i'm getting a 50 ms delay. You have to have a better sound card to be able to play through it directly. Its pretty good for cakewalk. I'll get more experience using it later.

I didn't care for the sound, I have used it though to fix some tracks by running them through the cabs and mics. I think the UX1/UX2 sound better though I really wanted to like Guitar Rig because well it's so cool.

I really don't care for any modeler plugins, guitar rig, amplitube or whatever. I'd rather have a PODxt over either, a Roland VG-88 over that, and a digitech 21XX over all those for direct recording. All my opinion but try everything and decide for yourself.

Meh... fine for scratch tracks or reference stuff, but horrible for anything resembling even a demo.
