have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

has anyone else here found that they love two bridge models and cannot really say which is better for them?
I really love the JB !it has just about everything one could ask for in a tone :)
but i have noticed that what the JB lacks( the only real way i can describe it?)
the custom has? which is a nice deep low end girth.
the real problem is that the custom does not "sing" like the JB does?
and the custom lacks the richness of the JB?
should i consider giving the C.S a call?

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

I don't think the Custom or the CC give up anything to the JB. If anything, I think that the CC sings much better (at a lower, smoother register) than the JB does.

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

I'm torn between the JB and Distortion. I have one in each guitar for that reason. Also the Jazz and '59 neck

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

do you guys think that maybe the custom shop can make me a "compromise" of a custom and JB?

They can make you anything you want, if you're willing to pay. ;)

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

I think that the CS charges $140 for humbuckers, not sure though. I know they'll rewind an exitsting humbucker for $70 per your specifications.

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

Is it just me or do a lot of people search for a JB with more low end chunk? I am definately one of those people, I love the JB pickup but compare it to any other pickup, it does lack a little in the low end section. I always find myself boosting the bass and cutting (not scooping) the mids on any amp to get the tone I like best.

Maybe Seymour Duncan should create a new pickup that would be the perfect middle ground between the JB and the Custom: A pickup with the musicality and singing characteristics of the JB & the fat low end and agressiveness of the Custom?

I'm positive it will become an instant succes...

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

We'll have to wait and see what the new Dave Mustaine model is like.... :)

It really depends on your amp and cabs. I'm in the situation where my amp and cabs have TONs of low end. More than I want or even know what to do with. So I switched back to a JB to give me more mids and treble. Plus, like you guys, I really like how it sings. I was using a Rio Grande BBQ, and its a nice pup, but had too much bass (for my rig), and to me didn't sing like the JB. Lots have recommended a Rio to those who want a JB with more low end though. So that may be your ticket.

Sign me up for ten of these, please :32:

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

I love this two pickups very much, as they already are, but after long searches, the Custom is the best sounding pickup I've ever heard. When I heard it for the first time I was looking for my jaws on the floor. :eek2: The thing I really like on JB is the high-mid spike (others hate it, though). The Custom on the other hand, has it's resonant peak higher so it cuts very well. So, for me, it goes...

1st - the Custom
2nd - the JB
3rd - the Screamin' Demon
4th - the Distortion
5th - the Custom 5

When I buy my fifth guitar...( :jester: that was a good one)...I'll complete the list. As for neck...not sure yet.

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

That new Mustaine pickup... I can't wait to see/hear it. Only problem is it is only going to be offered on the Mustaine guitars for a while. I cant IMAGINE how much they are gunna go for on ebay though! The only way to get one being through the guitars, I bet some people will buy those guitars just for the pickup, then put a new pickup in the guitar and sell the guitar!

God I can't wait to see/hear that pickup... anyone know the "release date"?

I went out and bought the custom after asking here for a JB with more low end girth.
and yes the custom is a very great sounding pup but i found that it did not have the richness and complexity of the JB?
man if i could do a 50/50 of the JB and custom i would find my heaven.
i am now to the point of figuring the seymour was right all along that the JB/Jazz is the consumate two bucker set up

A JB/Custom hybrid maybe? It could be interesting, with a risk of course.
The JB is killer, though! :fing2:

That's exactly what i was thinking of the JB. I like it very much but still it is my number 2 pickup: the reason is a certain lack of low mids/bass(and i play it trough a boogie which is bass heavy...).......if they could do that then i would immediately buy it......

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

My two favorite bridge pups right now as well. Combined could set a new standard that the JB has already achieved!

Re: have to ask? JB and custom fans/users?

I know of a pickup that can could possibly answere your prays for a jb with more lowend to it, but it aint a seymour duncan. The Dimarzio breed could be wat ur after, Some people say it remind them of a jb but of course its quite huge in the low end and mids if u check out www.dimarzio.com . I hope this helps.

Everyone who is drooling at this idea needs to get a JB, remove the A5 mag, obtain the magnets from an Invader, and put them in the JB. It's freakin awesome. Still keeps the basic JB tone, but kinda lights a fire under its ass :saeek:
