Have we given up on new shapes?

Re: Have we given up on new shapes?

The Ravelle is actually quite comfortable.
Especially sitting down.
The horn design hugs your leg.
The guitar doesn't slip around as much as a conventional LP style horn.
The curve where it sits on your leg, I mean.

Otherwise, it's very LPish in many aspects.

The only odd guitars that I've been into are the Gibson Explorer and Fender Jagstang. Even PRS looks odd enough to me that I'm not really into them. I don't neccissarily think it's because of a conservative nature on my part, but it probably has alot to do with me being programed from a young age to like certain body styles do to their association with particular styles of music I'm into.

Ya think?

I'd worry more about the fifty thousand other things that you're programmed to think...

I always liked the flying V myself, but maybe I'm programed to like things with wings spread!

The Jackson warrior is actually one of the most comfortable guitars to play, certainly more than a carved top.

I think the SG is the most comfortable body style ever. In terms of look the Explorer is my favorite. Probably my favorite mix of playibilty and looks is the Ibanez Talman (kind of like a Jaguar).

Re: Have we given up on new shapes?

I'm at a point, where I've decided what guitars I'll be playing from now on.
Gibson LP's, PRS McCarties, Fender Strats and Teles. I'm somewhat of a traditionalist with guitars, and have decided what models work for me.

I went through the oddball shaped guitars thing briefly in the Big 80's, and pointy axes are a young man's game, IMO. They appeal to me so little that I actually wince and pull away, if you try and hand me a pointy metal guitar! hahahahahahaha It's like handing me a Speedo at a public pool, and expecting me to wear it!!!! hahahahahah

Re: Have we given up on new shapes?

a Klein was the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. I think it is partly marketing, and the conservative guitar buying public. Gibson and Fender have a lot of money to bash it into young people's heads that they are the only guitars worth buying, and they should like them because they are classic designs.
But I'd play anything that was light, balanced, sounded and played great.
