I worked on your Flanger? Wow! What did I do with that one? I normally stay away from time based effects pedals! :) Had to be a repair?

Re: Have you been Spinafied?

Hi I'm Ron and I'm a Spinaholic DS-1 user :alcoholic I was curious and I tried one and it started to change my life. Now, I feel that I want more....just...can't....get..enough...more and more and more!!!! I'm a hopeless case! I just can't stop anymore! I just can't stop playing this damn awesome thing!!! :yell: :laugh2:
No seriously, John was the one that got me started playing again. Just ask the MAN. John, thanks again Bro! My 16 year old is here visiting from California and he's not letting go of my Spina DS-1! Looks like it's going back to California with him :crying: Well, I guess I'm going to have to send you another one

*Note: If anybody noticed that my Avatar, profile and signature changed for a couple of days, that was my son  Damn kids!! :laugh2: I took control of my PC back and put my old stuff back. I was a member of the Black Label society SDMF Washington Chapter there for a couple of days :laugh2: :yell: :headbang:

Today is John Spina day
Funny you mentioned the Vox/RMC Wah. Yes, now that I'm playing again, I wish I still had it :17: Well, all is good though. It's in good hands and getting a lot of good use.

It's just that we really appreciate having such an incredible tech at our disposal at prices that most of us can afford!! It's just a unique opportunity to have your toys modified to keep up with the big boys at a fraction of the price they pay, and get something that we feel is superior in quality. We appreciate having you around and want to make sure you know that....well at least that's where I'm coming from anyway :)

Yeah, everythings working great.... it is ridiculously loud....but it just sounds so awesome once you get it cranking

...I jammed with some friends this week and I cranked the **** out of the Marshall....they weren't too happy though....said I was playing too loud :laugh2: .....I kinda agreed, but I didn't want to admit it right then :)
....it is pretty brutal on the ears......I'm still on the lookout for a good deal on an attenuator

Capo hit the nail right on the head here with his comments! I also wanted to get an idea of how many folks had really had the opportunity to experience John's mods.

Re: Have you been Spinafied?

YES I AM....... I have a TS9 And a Crybaby Wah he modded for me.

I was disapointed to read that he can no longer get Fullerton pots. I have another Wah for a new board I need to have modded!

What a nice post from you....This was very nice that you took the time to say all this...I never thought so many of you would have sent me your pedals to mod and I'm blinded by that fact....I'll continue to keep doing this for all of you and keeping the mods and prices at a low profile...It's really been alot of fun and I enjoy the reviews, but mostly, all of you....Thanks again to all of you!

John

Hello Dave.....You can still find the Fulltone pots, but the inductors will start getting very hard to get now....We can use the red dunlop fasel inductor or we can try a "Halo" clone inductor from Wah Parts In The UK...I haven't tryed these inductors yet,but they look just like the 67 Vox inductors...The inductor and pot with the correct sweep is part of the key to great wahs with great sweep and vocal range....We can still voice your wah around the Fasel,in fact Sweet Lou's wah has the Red Fasel and it sounded great also...

We'll get you fixed up,just let me know when you're ready....

Here's the 67 "HALO" Vox copy inductor that we can get in the UK

Here's The Fasels....I Like the Red Fasel better...RED is the one also used in the Vox 848 Clyde McCoy reissue wah...A pretty good wah stock actually..I think the 848 is the best sounding currently in the whole Dunlop line in it's sweep and vocalness...It benefits from being modded though..

Notice the inductor on this 67 Vox Clyde McCoy wah....Think someone added a power supply jack to the side of this one maybe?

Now this attitude won't get you into the party...You'll either have to wait outside or stay home....Bad,Bad Boy..... :burnout: :laugh2: :saeek: :newangel: :offtopic: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I´m just REALLY afraid that replacing my ´73 Luxor Wah with a Crybaby (it´s a `baby copy, but THE most badass one :headbang: ) and having you mod it will set me on a whole new quest that I would LOVE to undertake, but simply can´t afford :blackeye:

If the CD sells well (you know how you can help... SPREAD THE WORD, my Demons, to the ends of the world :firedevil), the I guarantee you I´ll grab a full set of pedals and send them to you.. I give you my word :deal:

Re: Have you been Spinafied?

John did a heck of a job with a Tube Screamer Turbo. When I got the pedal it sat for almost a year because I was really dissapointed with the way it sounded. I shipped it as well as a DS-1 off to John and let him go house with it.

The DS-1 sounds amazing. I don't use that sort of sound very much in my playing, but even with "going minimalist" lately I've kept it around because it's such an authentic sounding pedal.

The Tube Screamer soon became one of my fave pedals. I'm knee-deep in a bad case of Tube Screamer-itis and my Spina-modded Turbo has come to the top of the heap every time.

Re: Have you been Spinafied?

My name is Artie, and I'm spina-less.

However . . . I am at stage 1, in which Doris gets her oats. I have acquired a DS-1. (Thanks Stratcat.) I want to get familiar with it before I send it to John, so that I'll be able to appreciate the "mods".

To be honest, this thing sounds pretty darn good right out of the box. Can't wait to hear the Spina-fied version. :)

Full review . . . vis-a-vie, as used with modellers to follow.

Re: Have you been Spinafied?

Artie, it will sound much better! I've got an Spina SD-1 that rocks the house man! Keep up the great work Bro.

Re: Have you been Spinafied?

happy spina TS9 owner!! Sounded great on my VTX peavey classic, then i fenderized my rig with a BF bandmaster and it screams larry carlton lead tones with the TS9 on light gain!

Now im spoiled with my OD tones and can't get any satisfying tones out of other units!

Re: Have you been Spinafied?

The Spina DS-1 is the only distortion pedal I haven't ditched. Sold the other 5 or 6 that I've had, including the Keeley DS-1. Looking forward to my Vox wah from him.
