Re: Have you ever blown speakers?

Sorry although I like speakers, I don't find them that attractive...

Re: Have you ever blown speakers?

yep. blew a g12h and a cannabis rex both with an old deluxe reverb. the rex was replaced under warranty for free. the g12h was way out of warranty so i had weber recone it as a g12h-55hz

The C Rex is rated at 50 watts isn't it? Even if the deluxe was running at twice it's rated power it should have been fine shouldn't it? Did they say if yours was defective?

Re: Have you ever blown speakers?

Fender wattage is deceptive at best. Though the Deluxe is rated at 22 watts is keeps up with a drummer and bassist better than my old 100 watts Marshall VS100. I can see a Deluxe blowing through a 50-watt speaker easily.

Re: Have you ever blown speakers?

I once blew a Celestion G12-65 in a Marshall 4x12 cab using a Boogie Mk II in 60W mode. That cab was rated at 260 Watts. But at the time I was gigging all the time and the cab was being used 3 hrs per night, 5-6 nights a week. Sometimes even more than that: in Sept through Nov of '82 the band only had one night off. My rig was being trucked in, unloaded, moved in, set up, gigged, torn down, moved out, loaded up, and trucked out every night. Even with ATA cases and a fairly careful road crew, that takes its toll.
