have you ever had the heel of a guitar neck warp?

i've had my guitar in pieces for a loooooong time now.
and i just noticed that the heel is warped/twisted.
i've never noticed this before, so i don't know if it was always like this.
the fret board seems to be straight.
when i've had the neck mounted in the past, the neck was dead straight, and not twisted in any way.
if its always been like this, then i assume that when screwed in, the neck will set properly into the neck pocket like it had in the past.
i'll try to take a picture when i can.

its a little disturbing though

Wood reacts to humidity changes.

Also, with the neck detatched, its truss rod continues to apply a force in opposition to the (absent) string tension load.

was the neck heel shimmed when it was last mounted on the guitar. if the shim does not cover the entire area of the heel and the neck pocket (with the required angle of course), then even maple is susceptible to a warp.

I've had "rising tongue" in a couple of older strats where the end of the neck develops an upward bend.

I can't say it has ever happened to me but I have never left a neck off a guitar longer than a few days. I would like to see some pics too if you have time.

its really hard to photograph
the neck was never shimmed
upon closer inspection, the heel looks like it has an ever-so-slight convex curve to it. which looked like a twist when i first noticed.
i also noticed that the neck "bed" or what ever the flat shelf is called that the neck rests on, also has an ever so slight convex curve to it.

anyway, i have to throw this thing back together and see what happens
