I recently traded for a 60's Kay speed demon. Previously it had been painted all crazy, but when I got it it had been sanded to natural, and varnished poorly. I sanded in down, stained it a nice dark honey, but I got the clear coat all streaky. So I plan to sand the clear coat off,and I've been told about using tung oil. I want a matte finish with almost no shine just to keep the dark wood look, but I also want protection from scratches and whatnot. I could use some advice if the oil is the best option, and if so will it harden to a protective layer, and does it self level, best way to apply,or should I go another way. I've looked up so much stuff online, and most of it is so contradicting. Hopefully someone on here has tried it or achieved this affect somehow. Thanks in advance...and this is my first thread in this forum so I appreciate the add and look forward to being a productive member
